This past month we learned about the winter season. The children loved the science activity Mrs. Brown had out at our science table. The children watched the ice cubes and then guessed which ice cube would melt the fastest. Will it be the cubes in the water, in sand, or the salt? The 4's class checks the ice cubes throughout the class time to see which one melted the quickest. They found that the ice cubes in water melted the fastest and the ones in the sand were the slowest to melt.

We also learned important facts about bears. Polar bears are smart and very good swimmers. Polar bears can swim up to 60 miles in one day.

We are also celebrating Chinese New Year and this year is the year of the Dragon in the Chinese calendar. People who are born in the year of the Dragon have a fantastic imagination, good health and lots of energy. They are good friends because they listen carefully to others. The children are very interested in learning about how the Chinese people celebrate their New Year and they are excited to learn about what animal sign they were born in on the Chinese calendar.
